What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the science, art and philosophy of locating and correcting vertebral subluxations through specific chiropractic adjustments and rehabilitation, thus allowing your body to function at its optimum level.

What is Subluxation?

Subluxation is the technical term for a misaligned vertebrae or joint that is putting pressure on the nerve system and causing dysfunction. If the pressure is left there for any length of time, your organs, muscles, tissue cells and overall health will begin to malfunction and deteriorate.

What is an Adjustment?

A specific “thrust” delivered by the hand. The purpose of the adjustment is to correct your spinal subluxation(s), thus removing the nerve interference in your body.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes! Statistics show that chiropractic care is one of the safest forms of healthcare in the world.

Should I continue chiropractic care if I don’t have any symptoms and I feel better?

Yes. Chiropractic care is to correct and maintain a healthy spine throughout your family’s lifetime. The trauma of the birth process, slips, falls, car accidents and countless other stresses over the course of your lifetime adversely affect expression of an underlying bigger problem. Symptoms don’t typically surface until significant breakdown has already occurred. Prevention is priceless; sickness and disease are costly.

Does my insurance cover chiropractic care?

This is probably the most frequently asked question that we hear from new patients. Chiropractic care is included in most health insurance plans, including Medicare, some Medicaid plans, Personal Injury insurance, and other major medical groups. Our billing department verifies your coverage and benefits before any treatment is rendered. Because there are so many different insurance plans, we need to check each individual’s deductible and co-pay, if any, to verify your coverage for our specific treatments. Please feel free to pick up the phone now and speak with one of our office managers at any of our locations so that they can check your individual coverage within the next 24 hours.

Why do adjustments cause crackling sounds?

During the specific adjustment we use to move a vertebrae back into its proper position, releasing of trapped gas pockets occurs. Gas from built up pressure forms when bones shift around each other, and when the bones move it releases this pressure, causing the crackling sound. This is very similar to the sound when “popping” your toes or knuckles.

Is chiropractic care safe for children?

Yes, chiropractic is safe and effective for all age groups. We reverse scoliosis and abnormal alignments of the spine through early detection and consistent care. This allows the child to develop at optimally. Chiropractic doctors adjust infants just minutes after a traumatic birthing process, providing helpful effects like better breathing, eating and sleeping. Just as we tailor chiropractic care to each individual, adjustments to children are very specific and light in force.

How many visits will I need chiropractic care for?

There is no “one size fits all” answer to this question, as the treatment every individual patient needs varies. Each person’s body responds at a different rate to care, depending on their condition and how long they have been living with symptoms. While some will rely on chiropractic care only when the pain reaches its worst, many people visit their chiropractor as part of a regular preventative health care routine to stay feeling well. Talk with your chiropractic doctor about your treatment goals during your initial consultation.
